F.J. Ossang est d’abord un écrivain. Influencé par le cut-up initié par William S. Burroughs, il commence à écrire l’âge de 13 ans, pour être édité à 17 ans, alternant romans, ouvrages de poésie, carnets de voyage, puis textes pour ses chansons. Parallèlement, il se lance dans la musique, fondant un groupe punk, MKB (Messageros Killers Boys) qui apparaît sur la BO de ses films, et évoluera vers un style plus industriel à l’exemple du groupe anglais Throbbing Gristle, dont en 2007 le titre Convincing People constituera la bande sonore de son court-métrage Silencio.
F.J. Ossang intègre L’IDHEC en 1981 et réalise son premier court-métrage L’Énigme, en 1982. Depuis, il a réalisé quatre longs métrages : L’Affaire des Divisions Morituri en 1984, Le Trésor des îles ...
