1In 2023 I will have the pleasure of giving a lecture on the occasion of Université Saint-Louis Bruxelles awarding me an honorary doctorate. That talk is entitled: “When Staff with Disabilities and University’s Meet: Some Reflections from an International and Comparative Perspective”. I am immensely honoured to be receiving an honorary doctorate from Université Saint-Louis Bruxelles. Your university has a strong commitment to carrying out meaningful and significant research in the field of disability studies and law, and this commitment is reflected in the conference that we have attended over the past two days, as well as the many academics from Université Saint-Louis Bruxelles who have been speaking at the conference and chairing sessions. This university also has a commitment to making this institution inclusive for students with disabilities, staff with disabilities, and prospective students and staff with disabilities. Those commitments are very close to my heart and I want to explore some of the issues raised more in the lecture that I will give on the occasion of being awarded the honorary doctorate.
2I really look forward to working with colleagues at Université Saint-Louis Bruxelles in the future, and I thank the University for the honour which you are doing me. I look forward to being a sparring partner for Université Saint-Louis Bruxelles as you move forward in developing a disability policy for this university. Lastly, I congratulate you and the Board of the University on this wonderful conference.
