Horst Mahler

1Horst Mahler was one of the most important participants of the German Student movement during the late 1960s. After several prison terms the former socialist, Student lawyer and co-founder of the Rote Armee Fraktion became a radical National Socialist and holocaust denier. This conversion still bothers the German public. There are however ideological continuities in Mahler's worldview, which can be stated since the 1960s: structural anti-semitism, profound anti-americanism and repetitive attempts to refuse guilt feelings about the holocaust. In this connection Mahler’s worldview is symptomatic for the German Student movement.
