Presidential Elections
1In April 2010, Heinz Fischer (SPÖ) was reelected for president. In Austria, a president can be reelected once after a six-year term. There were two competitors—Barbara Rosenkranz, a very right-wing FPÖ-MP, and Rudolf Gehring from an ultra-conservative, reactionary, very small political party called Christliche Partei Österreichs (Christian Party of Austria). There was no candidate from ÖVP or Grüne. Fischer got 79.3 percent, Rosenkranz 15.2, and Gehring 5.4.
