1. Die Torah als Basis jüdischen Rechts und traditioneller jüdischer Gesellschaftsordnung
Das Judentum, in der eigenen Tradition „Israel“ genannt, nimmt als einzige monotheistische Offenbarungsreligion für sich in Anspruch, über ein allumfassendes offenbartes und daher auch absolut verbindliches Normensystem zu verfügen.1 Verbindlich für Israel allein, im Sinne eines Vertragsverhältnisses zwischen dem Gott Israels und dem „Volk Israel“, vermittelt durch Mose am Sinai. Israel bzw. die Judenheit stellt als kollektiver Bundespartner eine sowohl ethnische wie religiöse Einheit dar, Religion und Politik sind daher nicht voneinander zu trennen. Der Einzelne ist der kollektiven Erwählungsaufgabe verpflichtet, und daher sind Religion und Politik prinzipiell nicht Privatsache des Einzelnen.
