Charcoal, logs and building timber, that are sold using the locations meant for wood, shall not be resold on Delos when they have been bought there, nor shall anyone sell any of these goods reloaded (literally: when they are on the boat) when they have been purchased having been declared as a purchase for personal use, nor either after having acquired without removing them goods bought at auction, and nor shall anyone sell charcoal, logs and building timber for the account of a third party. It shall be permissible for importers only in person to sell them and they shall not sell for higher than they have declared to the collectors of the tax of the fiftieth, nor for lower. Importers shall also make a declaration to the market inspectors, before selling, of the value they have declared to the collectors of the tax of the fiftieth.
Should anyone make a sale without complying with these requirements, they shall be subject to a fine of fifty drachmas and any citizen may denounce them to the market inspectors. The market inspectors shall bring such denunciations before the Thirty-One in the course of the month in which they were lodged. The denouncer shall deposit the wages of the tribunal. Should the accused be found guilty, they shall repay these wages to whoever paid them in and shall pay to them two-thirds of the fine handed down, and the last third shall go to the public treasury, and the market inspectors shall have them pay within ten days following the finding, without being subject to prosecution for this offence. Should they be unable to do so, they shall apologise under oath and deliver the accused and their goods to the denouncer, and having inscribed the finding on the panel where they record other writings, they shall pass the finding on to the Council in the public records.
Those who, enjoying tax exemption, import wood, logs or charcoal sold by using the location meant for wood shall make a declaration to the market inspectors, before selling, of the value they are preparing to put up for sale and they shall not be allowed to sell for higher or lower than they have declared. For anyone failing to comply with these requirements, the market inspectors shall not hand over the weights or measures of charcoal, and for the space where their wood, charcoal or logs are deposited, they shall pay to the city-state compensation of one drachma per day until they remove their merchandise and the market inspectors shall have them pay without being subject to prosecution for this offence.
