OpenEdition Books

Founded in 1991 in Geneva (Switzerland), Contrechamps Editions aims at publishing in French the important texts on the music of the 20th and 21st centuries, starting with the writings of the composers themselves. The texts, interviews and correspondence of Bartók, Schoenberg, Webern, Ives, Varèse, Cage, Carter, Berio, Nono, Kurtág, Huber, Lachemann, Holliger and Rihm, constitute the main axis of our editorial line. Monographic texts, historical or analytical studies supplement this catalogue which aims at documenting rigorously the writings on the music of our time, including a book on American music, studies on the music of Pierre Boulez, a historical study on musicians during the nazi period, as well as a collection of sound poetry.
