About the author
Svetislav Stefanović [1877, Novi Sad (Hun. Újvidék) – 1944, Belgrade]: physician, poet, translator, literary critic, and political theorist. He graduated from the Gymnasium in Novi Sad, and embarked on studies of polytechnics, philosophy, and eventually medicine in Vienna and Prague. He specialized in treating tuberculosis and at the same time completed his doctoral thesis on Shakespeare’s Hamlet. Upon returning to Serbia in 1903, he worked as a physician.
