About the author
5Roman Dmowski [1864, Kamionek (present-day part of Warsaw)–1939, Drozdowo near Łomża]: politician. Born in an impoverished gentry family in Russian Poland, Dmowski studied biology at Warsaw University. In 1889, after completing his studies, he became a member of the conservative Liga Polska (Polish League). In 1893, he founded Liga Narodowa (National League), a subversive organization of Polish nationalists. From 1895 until 1905, Dmowski was the publisher of Przegląd Wszechpolski (All-Polish review) based first in Lwów (Ger., Yid., Lemberg, Ukr. Lviv) and then in Cracow. In 1897, he created a legal political party, Stronnictwo Narodowo-Demokratycz
