A. ORAL SOURCES

As discussed earlier, oral data were collected extensively in the study area. The names and particulars of major informants can be found in the notes.

B. PRIMARY WRITTEN MATERIALS

The early part of the study was devoted to a scouting exercise for written materials. This proved only marginally successful. However subsequent visits to archives in Bénin, Togo, Britain and France yielded some fruitful results. The following are materials consulted and found useful.
