CEFREPA
In 2021, the French Research Centre of the Arabian Peninsula (CEFREPA) replaces the French Center for Archaeology and Social Sciences in the Arabian Peninsula (CEFAS), first known as the French Center for Yemeni Studies (CFEY), which was founded in 1982 to provide accommodation for archaeological missions and researchers involved in fieldwork within the boundaries of what was then the Arab Republic of Yemen. Renamed CEFAS in 2001, and CEFREPA in 2021, the Centre has been extending its coverage beyond the borders of Yemen, encompassing the whole Arabian Peninsula (United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Qatar, Republic of Yemen, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Kingdom of Bahrain and Sultanate of Oman) in its fields of research.
The CEFREPA is part of the network of the French Research Centers Abroad, IFRE, and is run both by the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During its forty years of existence, the Center published or co-published works (http://cefas.cnrs.fr/spip.php?article206), in European languages and in Arabic, most of them co-edited, in Middle East countries or in France. It publishes an online Journal, Arabian Humanities who succeeded to Yemeni Chronicles (1993–2013).
