The origins and history of the hominids. New paradigms

The 2002 discovery of “Toumaï”, the oldest known hominid in the world, by Michel Brunet and his team drastically changed the history of human origins.
Until then, the first humans were believed to have appeared in East Africa three or four hundred years ago with climate change having led to forests being replaced by savannahs, a more favourable environment for bipeds.
